“Oh, the places you'll go! There is fun to be done!
There are points to be scored. There are games to be won.”
The activity calendar will give you an idea of some of the activities that have been planned so far. Many more will be planned prior to your arrival. We hope that you will stay on campus during the weekends, as you will when away at college. Not only are popular activities planned for all Saturdays, but weekends are also a good time to socialize with your new friends, explore downtown Newark, and just plain relax.
Some students who live close to campus will be tempted to continue some of their regular summertime activities at home and in their communities while attending Summer College. We strongly urge you to reconsider these activities. Not only is getting to and from these events difficult since we do not allow you to drive or keep a car while at Summer College (as stated in the application booklet and the Student Handbook), but Summer College is an intense residential program that will help you adjust to campus life as a freshman if you do not dilute the experience by trying to have it both ways.
