Summer College housing will be in Independence West Residence Hall, located on Laird Campus. Independence Hall is on David Hallowell Drive which is off Route 896/New London Road in Newark. The residence hall is adjacent to the Newark Marriott Hotel.

Check-in begins at 8:00am. Signs for “Summer College” will direct you to a loading zone. You will be asked to unload your vehicle, and then drive to the Christiana Commons to check in. Here, you will receive your room key, building access card, and other important materials. Please, do not park in a “Service Vehicle” or “Reserved” space. You will get a parking ticket if you do this and Summer College will not be responsible for parking tickets. After you check in, please park your vehicle in the lot nearest Christiana Commons, and make your way back to Independence Hall. At that time, you will be able to move your belongings to your room.

It has been suggested (and encouraged) to bring a small hand truck for getting your belongings from the car to your room. There is an elevator in Independence Hall, but there will also be many people who are using it!

From Philadelphia
Take I-95 South to Exit 1B, which becomes Route 896 North, follow 896 into Newark. Route 896 becomes South College Avenue. Continue straight on South College Avenue for approx. two miles, past such landmarks as the Bob Carpenter/Sports Convocation Center, Delaware Stadium, and the Delaware Field House. Follow South College Avenue until it ends at Main St, and turn left onto Main Street and stay in the right lane. Go 1 block and at the fork, bear right over the railroad tracks. Proceed straight through the traffic light at Cleveland Avenue. Look for signs for University Delaware-Laird Campus, turn right.
